Our 4 Favorite Chicago Activities to Feel the Holiday Spirit

|

From the first party of the season to that last toast on New Year’s, the holiday season in Chicago is magical. Break out the festive tunes and decorations – the holiday spirit here comes in all forms, and Residences at 8 East Huron has four more recommendations to help you (re)discover what this time of year means to you.

A Treasured Tradition

Wrap yourself in your warmest jacket and venture out. This year is the 30th Annual Wreathing of the Lions at the Art Institute of Chicago. Running through Jan. 7, 2022, this Miracle Mile favorite offers a festive look at the regal and remarkable Art Institute lions that have stood their ground since 1894. Get a photo and then head inside to explore the current exhibitions.

ʼTis the Season (to Shop & Celebrate)

Shop the authentic Christkindlmarket in nearby Daley Plaza. Local vendors have artisan crafts like glass ornaments, hand-knit hats and gloves, and other traditional German treats and treasures. When you’re finished shopping, grab a glass of mulled wine and take in the spectacle – it’s sure to spark more joy for this year’s holiday season.

Dazzling & Delightful

This year’s Lightscape at Chicago Botanic Garden runs through Jan. 2, 2022. Take a stroll through the garden after dark and enjoy an immersive experience under the lights. Twinkling installations are found around every corner and, when you are ready for more, head to the Morton Arboretum for another outdoor experience. Here, the mile-long path cruises through and under the captivating light display.

Good Feelings All Around

Looking to give back this holiday season? There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer your time. Join others at a local food bank and pack groceries for families in need. Collect toys for the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center. Donate to Feed My Starving Children and help kids around the world get enough to eat. Or simply bake cookies for your neighbors at 8 East Huron. The goodness you give will be returned to you in spades because those good feelings will last you throughout December and into 2022.

Whether it’s attending a beloved tradition, giving back, or wandering the streets to enjoy the city’s light displays, the Residences at 8 East Huron would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season.
